About the Therapists
Ashley Culpepper, LPC-MHSP (temp)
Growing up in rural Mississippi, therapy was a foreign concept for a long time. Then I experienced my own mental health struggles after my children were born. And in 2019, my life purpose was made clear to me: encourage others and help them heal, just like others have done for you.
I am passionate about making therapy approachable and normalizing conversations about mental health. My background includes helping those with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, addiction, and those who want to understand more about themselves. In session I use a combination of empathy, neuroscience, and humor.
When not in the office, I like to spend time with my husband and two kids, daydream about our next trip, or geocache.

I have over 8 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families to help them improve their mental health and areas of concern. I am trained in Brainspotting and have been using it the past 5 years to treat clients with PTSD and childhood trauma/abuse. I also enjoy working with adolescents and teenagers with substance use issues, anxiety, depression and difficult life adjustments.
Prior to getting into the mental health field I coached college, high school and middle school lacrosse and have a passion for working with people. I have been on my own personal journey of healing and recovery for the past 18 years. My goal is to help provide a safe environment for people to explore their own life stories and wounds and get healing.

I found my home in Nashville in the 90’s where I attended high school and formed a community of lifelong friends from Christ Presbyterian Academy. My family worked in the music business and I attended Belmont University to study education. After moving around I settled in Johnson City, TN and that is where I earned my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Recently, I moved back to the area and am excited to make it home.
As a counselor I have loved working with children, families, college students, mid-lifers and empty nesters. I often use a values based approach and enjoy helping both individuals and families who are experiencing conflict, divorce, infidelity, trauma, anxiety, and healing from emotional abuse. I love the process of therapy, not just for the healing aspects it provides, but for the therapeutic relationship that is healing in itself.
I have enjoyed the years spent raising my two grown children. I have been “room mom”, field trip driver, dance mom, theater mom, soccer mom and now therapist mom. I relate as an enneagram 9 who loves people, deep conversations, and meaningful relationships. It would be an honor to get to know you and your family and be a part of your healing process.

As a wife and mother of three busy kids, I understand the importance of creating balance and finding peace amid the chaos of life. With extensive experience supporting children, preteens, teens, and adults in both outpatient and hospital settings, I’m deeply committed to helping individuals and families navigate their mental health journeys. Whether dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges or the stress of parenting, my focus is on creating a compassionate and structured environment where you can feel truly heard and supported.
In my practice, I believe in setting clear and attainable goals so together we can track your progress and celebrate your achievements. Whether you choose the connection of in-person sessions or the flexibility of telehealth, I’m dedicated to walking alongside you every step of the way on your path to healing and personal growth.
Aside from providing therapy, I enjoy watching college sports and spending as much time outdoors as possible. I love reading both for fun and education and I am a firm believer that trying new foods is the best part of traveling. Credentials & Trainings

I come from a small town in Minnesota. I made the move to Tennessee about 5 years ago and found my passion in social work. I completed my Bachelors in Social Work from Middle Tennessee State University and am now working toward my Masters in Social Work. After graduation next spring I will continue to provide therapy services while pursuing my clinical licensure path.
My current interests lie in working with women, particularly survivors of violence, but I am excited to work with all populations to see who I can serve best. I am passionate about helping others heal from their trauma and cope in healthy ways. I interned at AncoraTN last year, working with survivors of trafficking. There, I led 3 days of Intensive Outpatient Therapy on the subject of coping and saw how critical healthy coping skills are, and how important it is to empower a client to explore the strengths and skills they may already have. Therapy has my heart, and I am excited to see my personal growth during my time with Wholehearted Counseling.
I work part-time at a senior-living home as a cook and I absolutely love it. I am an extrovert and love meeting new people! I also enjoy a good sitcom and spending time outside with my boyfriend and our dog.
